The Martin B-26 Marauder was one of the most
controversial American combat aircraft of the Second World War. It was primarily
used in Europe, and was in fact numerically the most important US Air Force
bomber used in that theatre of action. However, on four occasions, investigation
boards had met to decide if the development and production of the Marauder
should continue. The Marauder survived all attempts to remove it from service,
and by 1944, the B-26s of the US 9th Air Force had the lowest loss rate on
operational missions of any American aircraft in the European theatre, reaching
a point less than one half of one percent.
The new Omikron Pilot series watches share the names of
these mid 20th century aircraft to remember them and the heroes who flew them. They have also
been made with exclusive Swiss Leschot LM-196 super automatic caliber movements.
The Marauder, like all other Omikron watches, is made with the finest Swiss
materials and craftsmanship. But, there’s an added bonus to the already
present super luminous hands and date window at 3 o’clock. In the center sits a
smaller gray dial to measure the days of the week. More so, the screw-down crown
is modified to adjust the date turning it clockwise and adjust the weekday by
turning counter-clockwise.
