The prototype for the Sikorsky VS-44 “Excalibur” was first flown on August 13, 1937 with a maximum range of 3,800 miles when carrying a payload of 5,000 pounds. On January 12,
1942, the US Navy gave American Export Airlines a contract to operate a wartime
route across the Atlantic. The airline's temporary civil certificate for a non-stop flight from New York to Foynes, Ireland was granted on February 10, 1942, and continued throughout World War II. One VS-44, used post-war by Antilles Air Boats, survives in the museum at Windsor Locks, Connecticut.
A long awaited addition to the Omikron legacy comes this exquisite automatic timepiece. Surrounding this already intriguing dial is a polished 18 karat bezel that burns like a corona. This watch is made with a dual textured guilloché dial and two perfectly placed subsidiary dials which offer further insight into the realm of timekeeping. Of course there’s
the certainty that this watch is a hand crafted Swiss made piece when you turn
it over and gaze upon the golden bridges and rotor within. And last, but certainly not least, this piece wraps around your wrist by means of an authentic lizard strap, providing a unique texture for your fingertips as they run across
it.
Each
timepiece is serial numbered as part of an exclusive 65 piece limited edition collection.
